Game Highlights for 2012

May 14 Tournament 6:15 -VS- Immanuel Lutheran

We jumped out to a 10-0 lead, then the bats sputtered for a few innings and the Lutherans closed the gap to 10-6. The bats woke up in the last inning and we closed them out with a 19-6 run rule win.

May 14 Tournament 7:15 -VS- Calvary Nazarene

In the 2nd game the missing people in the line up really hurt us and our bats were never a threat.  Defense was shaky and we gave up several bases.  Despite that we were somewhat in the game for the first 4 innings or so, and then the lack of hitting and defensive mistakes caught up with us and we lost big 3-19.

May 14 Tournament 8:15 -VS- Ignite Church

Injuries, subs, and tripple-header fatigue found us behind by 1-9 by the 3rd. We woke up in the 4th and 5th, to battle back to 15-16 despite pitching woes and defensive errors. As home team, we hurried the end of the 5th, and went into the 6th with 7 seconds on the clock. We held them scoreless in the 6th, and only needed to pull in 2 to win, but it was not to be, and we lost 15-16 with 3rd place in the tournament.

May 7 -VS- Ignite Church

What a night.  A double header against teams we have already lost to, and a shake up in the line-up due to several missing players, didn't bode well for the night, but someone forgot to tell the team.  The first game (against Ignite) started off with great hitting and great defense and we staked ourselves to a 20-8 lead, and held on to win 20-14.  We were lead by the full use of homers (I believe 2 by Matt and 1 by Kevin) and good defense all around with no real errors until the game was basically out of reach.

May 7 -VS- Calvary Nazarene

The 2nd game (against Calvary) started off well with the bats leading us to an early lead.  The score eventually got to us leading 8-6 before the wheels started to fall off, and nine runs and no outs later we found ourselves eventually behind 19-12 heading into the bottom of the 7th.  Our bats woke up like seldom has happened and we scored 5 runs and had the bases loaded all without an out.  Another hit scored the 6th run, but Andrew was called out at the plate (as the tying run), but two more hits later Steve scored the winning run to cap an eight run last inning 20-19 come from behind win!

April 30 -VS- Immanuel Lutheran

For a change, we were actually awake the first inning. We won the toss, but only 9 players showed up so we elected to be Visitors to allow our 10th player (Steve, who came and played despite being in an accident days before) to arrive. Our outfield looked sparse, but Immanuel was nice enough to hit directly into their gloves. Then we turned on the sticks, making it 14-0 in the 3rd. Tight defense and an unassisted 1st Base double play by Ken kept us in the lead. We batted around in the 4th and Immanuel caught a streak to make it 20-3. Time ran out in the 5th, and they played well, but just couldn't bring in the runs, and we ended up with a 23-3 win.

April 16  -VS- Ignite Church

Well, we have some serious competition in the 2012 league! Ignite played us as the 2nd in their double header, whipping Immanuel 35-3 in their first game. After 4 innings of being asleep, with a wimpy score of 4-14, we finally woke up in the 5th and pulled even at 14-14. Ignite blew the 5th off, and we pulled ahead 16-14 in the 6th, thanks to Stadler and Badgley. However, it was not to be, and with a 23 seconds left, we went into a 7th inning where they hammered in 5 and we poured on the errors, the final score was a loss of 17-19.

Well it just wasn't pretty. As usual, we didn't wakup up until the 3rd, and by then it was 0-6. We did pull ahead 7-6 with most of the runs on 2 outs. Neither team did much until the bottom of the 5th, when Calvary cut loose to make it 8-18. With time called in the 6th, Calvary's home advantage ended the game with a loss 8-23.

Game Results: April 23 -VS- Immanuel Lutheran

We lost the toss again, but we had a much better start than the first game, with good sticks and Lutheran errors making it 14-3 after 3. They pulled in 4 during the long 4th inning, and time ran out in the 5th. We batted in another 4, but they could only score 1, ending with a 18-6 win for St. Mary's.
